Euless Police Drone Program Logs 220 Calls, Boosts Public Safety in First Month

The Euless Police Department reported that its new Drone as First Responder (DFR) program responded to more than 220 calls during July 2025, covering 512 miles across 38 flight hours. The program provides real-time aerial support to officers, allowing for faster and safer responses to incidents.

In its first month of operation, the DFR program contributed to:

  • 37 misdemeanor and 4 felony arrests

  • 6 theft calls with 4 stolen vehicles recovered

  • 31 deployments for suspicious persons

  • 29 officer backup or assist deployments

  • 22 disturbance call responses

  • 26 accident and traffic incident deployments

Euless Police Chief Gary Landers said, “This technology is a game-changer. DFR provides our officers with eyes in the sky before they arrive on scene, allowing them to respond more safely and effectively.”

The program uses FAA-certified pilots operating drones equipped with advanced cameras and live-streaming capabilities. Drones are dispatched automatically to priority calls, often arriving within 60–90 seconds, while complying with federal, state, and local regulations and emphasizing privacy and accountability.

The department plans to continue evaluating the program’s impact on community safety and officer effectiveness as it expands.
