On Thursday, October 16, 2025, 44-year-old Charles Medford pled guilty in a Fort Worth courtroom to aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and injury to an elderly person. The court sentenced him to 45 years in prison.
The charges stem from an incident on June 26, 2024, when Medford attacked his 81-year-old neighbor. According to court records, he knocked the victim to the ground, then kicked and struck him multiple times. The assault was captured on a Ring security camera.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including back fractures, rib fractures, and a collapsed lung.
Medford is a habitual offender with prior convictions for aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. The case was prosecuted by Idris Akinpelu and Taylor Ross of the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.
