The Fort Worth Fire Department announced the arrest of a suspect connected to a September 3rd residential fire on Williams Street that left two firefighters injured.
According to officials, the fire was determined to be deliberately set. Fort Worth Arson Investigators began working the case immediately, conducting interviews, reviewing surveillance footage, and gathering critical evidence. Their investigation led to the identification of Shawndreika Thomas as the suspect.
On October 29th, with assistance from the Fort Worth Police Department, Thomas was arrested without incident. She has been charged with arson of habitation, a first-degree felony that includes bodily injury to the two injured firefighters. The case has been filed with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Her bond has been set at $250,000.
The Fire Department expressed deep appreciation to the Fort Worth Police Department, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and everyone who assisted in the investigation. Officials also thanked those involved in the recovery and medical treatment of the injured firefighters.
Fire Chief and investigators praised the Arson Unit for their persistence and professionalism, noting that their tireless work led to the arrest of a suspect responsible for a fire that could have been deadly.
