The Colony, TX - Jeovany Francisco Pineda, a resident of The Colony, was arrested in connection with the October 20, 2025, house fire that damaged multiple homes, The Colony Fire Department announced Wednesday.
At approximately 12:50 a.m. on October 20, The Colony Public Safety Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire and a possible explosion at a residence in the 4600 block of Freeman Drive. Fire crews arrived within minutes to find the single-family home fully engulfed, with flames beginning to spread to neighboring residences. Due to the rapid fire conditions, a second and third alarm were requested. The Colony Police Department assisted by evacuating nearby homes, while fire departments from Lewisville, Carrollton, Plano, and Frisco responded. The Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office also provided support in the firefighting and initial investigative efforts.
The Colony Fire Marshal’s Office launched a thorough investigation immediately, reviewing surveillance footage, conducting witness interviews, and collecting evidence at the scene. Investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set using flammable liquids, which caused the rapid spread of flames and created the appearance of an explosion, though no explosives were involved.
Through collaboration between The Colony Fire Marshal’s Office, TCPD, the Lewisville Fire Arson Canine Unit, and the Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office, Pineda was identified as the suspect. On October 28, he was arrested without incident and charged with second-degree arson. The case is now being filed with the Denton County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Authorities emphasized that Pineda’s actions put multiple families and first responders at serious risk. Both TCFD and TCPD commended the investigative team for their meticulous work and inter-agency coordination, noting that their persistence was instrumental in bringing the case to a successful arrest.
No injuries were reported during the fire, but significant property damage occurred to the primary residence and surrounding homes. Fire investigators continue to work with insurance providers and affected families to document the damage.
