A Dallas County jury has convicted 21-year-old Jamarion White of murder for the June 9, 2024 killing of Kevin Hernandez, sentencing him to 80 years in prison.
Prosecutors said White and a juvenile co-defendant targeted Hernandez for his purple Dodge Charger, a car outfitted with a high-performance “scat pack” package. The two approached Hernandez at 136 N. Masters in Dallas and opened fire, hitting him seven times.
Investigators later tied the suspects to a stolen blue Nissan Rogue used in the crime. That vehicle had been taken in a separate carjacking earlier the same morning. Police found fired cartridge cases inside the Rogue that matched shell casings recovered from the murder scene. Detectives also connected the pair to an aggravated robbery that happened just hours after the Rogue was stolen.
Days later, White was located at a park in Mesquite, where officers arrested him and recovered three firearms. One of the guns was linked directly to the murder. During an interview with Mesquite Police Detective Patrick King, White admitted his involvement.
The case was led by prosecutors Krystal Biggins and Loren Collins, with investigative support from the Dallas Police Department, lead Detective Frank Serra, and Mesquite Police Detective King.
On November 21, 2025, the jury returned a guilty verdict and imposed an 80-year sentence.
