On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office responded after a two-year-old child was admitted to Baylor Scott & White, McLane Children’s Hospital with severe injuries. Investigators determined that the suspect had access to the child but was not a family member, prompting a criminal investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
After gathering evidence, the Bell County District Attorney’s Office approved charges of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
The suspect, 30-year-old Thomas Anthony Jonse of Taylor, Texas, was arrested at his residence and booked into the Bell County Jail. Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman set bond at $250,000 for each charge. Jonse remains in custody as the investigation continues.
