Female Shooting Victim Dies; Suspect Killed in Officer-Involved Shooting in Mesquite

MESQUITE, TX - On Saturday, December 20, 2025, Mesquite Police responded to an officer-involved shooting in the 18500 block of IH 635 involving officers from the Dallas Police Department.

According to information provided by Dallas officials, the incident began earlier that morning at approximately 10:15 a.m. when Dallas Police were called to a shooting in the 9000 block of Markville Drive. Officers located a female victim who had been shot. Dallas Fire-Rescue transported her to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., Dallas Police Northeast Division officers conducting surveillance located the suspect traveling in a vehicle near the 18500 block of LBJ Freeway in Mesquite. Officers attempted to take the suspect into custody by conducting a felony traffic stop. During the encounter, the suspect exited the vehicle and shots were fired.

The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.

The Mesquite Police Department will lead the investigation into the officer-involved shooting that occurred within its jurisdiction. The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office also responded to the scene and will conduct an independent review as part of the investigative process.
