Motorcyclist Killed After Fleeing Traffic Stop in Bedford

BEDFORD, TX - The Bedford Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday afternoon following an attempted traffic stop.

Around 3:35 p.m., Bedford police officers observed a motorcycle committing multiple traffic violations near Harwood Road and State Highway 121. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the rider fled the area.

The motorcycle entered the Bedford Linear Park walking trail near Harwood Road. Due to concerns about possible pedestrians on the trail, officers discontinued the pursuit and turned off their emergency lights and sirens.

A short time later, Bedford Police Dispatch received a call reporting a crashed motorcycle near the Bedford Linear Park trail and Willow Bend. Officers responded to the scene and confirmed the motorcycle involved was the same one that had earlier evaded police. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid to the rider.

The rider, identified as a 35-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

The Bedford Police Crash Team and Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene and collect evidence. The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released at this time.
