An Irving man is facing serious felony charges following a frightening incident involving gunfire at Nimitz High School last week.
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Irving Police Officer Evangelista, who was on duty as a School Resource Officer at Nimitz High School, was notified by Assistant Principal Wendy Trammell of a possible fight in the west student parking lot. Moments later, Trammell advised over the school radio that a gunshot had been heard near the location of the reported fight.
Officer Evangelista immediately responded to the parking lot, where he made contact with two students, Christopher Chavez-Zetino and Michael Flores. Both reported that they had been approached by Bryan Barrios-Gomez and a second suspect, a juvenile whose identity is being withheld due to his age.
According to the victims, Barrios-Gomez attempted to steal a chain from Chavez-Zetino while displaying a handgun. During the encounter, Barrios-Gomez discharged a round into the ground nearby. The victims also reported that the juvenile suspect was seen concealing a handgun inside his jacket during the incident. After the shot was fired, both suspects fled the area.
Multiple witnesses were present at the time of the offense.
Following an investigation, Barrios-Gomez was located in the 2100 block of Red Oak Drive, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Irving Jail and charged with two counts of Aggravated Robbery, both first-degree felonies.
The investigation remains ongoing, particularly regarding the involvement of the juvenile suspect.
