DALLAS, Texas — A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following a late-night shooting that left an 18-year-old dead, according to the Dallas Police Department.
Officers responded around 10:10 p.m. April 28 to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Fort Worth Avenue. Preliminary findings indicate that Ernest Rodriguez, 18, was shot during the incident.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced Rodriguez dead.
Police later located the suspect, identified as Relby Esquivel, 37, and took him into custody. He has been booked into jail and is facing a murder charge. Dallas Jail records show that Esquivel was out on bond for a previous arrest and charge of DWI and Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence.
The investigation remains ongoing under case number 060657-2026.
