Irving police arrested two suspects, including a 17-year-old, after an armed carjacking outside a restaurant on New Year’s Day that ended with their capture in a neighboring city.
Officers were dispatched around 2:56 p.m. to the 3500 block of North Belt Line Road near West Northgate Drive, outside the Pho Empire restaurant, after a report of an auto theft in progress involving a firearm. When the officer arrived, the victim reported that two individuals pointed a handgun at him and stole his vehicle before fleeing the area.
Through their investigation, Irving police identified the suspects as 17-year-old Tevaris Wynn and a juvenile accomplice. Descriptions of the suspects and the stolen vehicle were immediately entered into the system.
About an hour later, a Euless police officer located the stolen vehicle and observed both suspects running from it. Officers captured them a short time later. Irving Police were contacted and responded to the scene. Police say Wynn was found with a 9mm pistol tucked into his waistband, matching the weapon described by the victim. He was also found with the keys to the stolen vehicle in his front left pocket.
Both suspects were taken into custody, booked into the Irving Jail and charged with aggravated robbery.
