WAXAHACHIE, TX - A stolen vehicle chase that began in Ellis County early Friday morning ended with the arrest of a Dallas teenager, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on January 2, 2026, deputies were dispatched to the 600 block of Panorama Loop in Waxahachie following a report of a vehicle break-in caught on home surveillance. Deputies quickly learned that two vehicles were fleeing the scene, including a white Ford F-150 that had been reported stolen from a nearby neighborhood.
The pursuit extended into Dallas, where the suspect abandoned the stolen truck and ran on foot into a backyard in the 5200 block of Homer Street. Ellis County K-9 Tex was deployed, and the suspect, 19-year-old Alejandro Cuarenta of Dallas, was located and taken into custody without further incident.
Cuarenta faces multiple charges, including Theft of Property between $2,500 and $30,000, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, and Possession of a Controlled Substance (over 4 grams but less than 200 grams).
Investigators believe Cuarenta may not have acted alone, and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is pursuing additional leads to identify possible accomplices.
Sheriff Brad Norman praised the coordinated efforts of deputies, K-9 personnel, and assisting agencies, emphasizing their dedication to public safety.
