DALLAS, TX - A joint operation between Dallas Police and the U.S. Marshal’s North Texas Fugitive Task Force led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive and the seizure of suspected narcotics in the Central Business District earlier this week.
On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Central Business District officers arrested 40-year-old Velisa Purvis in the 1500 block of Garrett Avenue. Purvis was wanted on multiple felony narcotics warrants and was taken into custody without incident.
During a search following the arrest, officers recovered 39 small bags of suspected crack cocaine, two bags of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug packaging materials, currency, and other paraphernalia. Investigators believe the drugs were packaged for distribution.
Purvis had four outstanding felony warrants at the time of her arrest. She is now facing additional charges, including Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance between four and 200 grams, and Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance between one and four grams, related to the suspected crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and evidence indicating intent to distribute.
Major John Madison, commander of the Dallas Police Central Business District Patrol Division, credited the arrest to coordinated efforts between agencies.
“Our proactive police work is made better through our strong partnerships with agencies like the U.S. Marshals,” Madison said. “CBD officers are committed to enhancing public safety and quality of life for the residents and businesses that make up the Central Business District.”
