IRVING, TX - Out of more than 82,000 submissions worldwide, one MacArthur High School student has risen to the very top of the art world. Senior Isabella Earl has been selected for the 2025 AP Art and Design Exhibit, a prestigious global showcase featuring only 51 student portfolios.
Isabella’s selection is a historic feat for Irving ISD; she is one of only two students from the state of Texas represented in this year’s international collection.
From State Setback to Global Success
For Isabella, the recognition is a powerful validation of her resilience. After a piece she felt was her best work failed to win at the state level last year, the global selection provided a massive boost to her artistic confidence.
"I didn't realize how big of a deal it was at first," Isabella shared. "I wasn't able to win out of Texas, but knowing that I was able to win out of the world, it definitely elevated my confidence."
A "Rare Balance" of Creativity
The AP Art and Design Exhibit highlights inquiry-based work that reflects a student's unique perspective on the world. Marci Lee, MacArthur’s Visual Arts Lead Teacher, noted that Isabella’s portfolio strikes a "rare balance of complexity and accessibility."
-
Global Reach: Last year’s digital exhibit drew over 250,000 views from around the world.
-
Academic Rigor: Isabella credits the program with sharpening her planning and problem-solving skills, tools she plans to use as she pursues a dual path in art and business in college.
"Isabella’s success shows what is possible when students are supported by dedicated teachers, strong programs, and a school community that believes in their potential," said Principal Victoria Youngblood-Baldwin.
Join the Celebration
The College Board will officially honor Isabella and her fellow international artists during a live virtual ceremony. The event celebrates the fusion of student talent and the instructional excellence of the educators who guided them.
