NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - A driver narrowly avoided serious injury early Friday morning after a single-vehicle crash sent a car over a guardrail and into a creek near Fossil Creek Park, prompting a coordinated rescue by police and firefighters.
In the early hours of Friday, January 16th, officers with the North Richland Hills Police Department and firefighters from North Richland Hills Fire Department Station 2 were dispatched to Onyx Drive South, near the park’s bike trails, following reports of a crash.
Responders arrived to find the vehicle upside-down submerged in Big Fossil Creek after hitting and going over the guardrail. Fire crews used a ladder truck, identified as T222, to safely recover the vehicle from the water. Paramedics with Medic 222 evaluated and treated the driver at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that no serious injuries were reported. The cause of the crash has not been released.
Officials praised the effective response by the Station 2 crew.
