IRVING, TX - A founding pastor of an Arlington-based non-denominational church is behind bars facing a second-degree felony charge of Indecency with a Child - Sexual Contact for an incident dating back nearly two decades.
Troyce Hernandez, 50, of Kennedale, who also goes by "Troy Hernandez", was arrested by Irving Police on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. After being booked into the Irving Jail, Hernandez was transferred to the Dallas County Jail on Thursday morning.
The Charges and Legal Standing
According to court records, Judge Isabel Cruz set Hernandez’s bond at $25,000 for the felony charge (Warrant #F2632842). He has posted bail and has been released pending a court hearing. The Dallas County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case and could not comment further than that.
The Irving Police Department confirmed that the investigation into Hernandez stems from an incident that occurred in 2008. While detectives currently do not believe there are other victims, they emphasized that the investigation remains active.
Under Texas Penal Code § 21.11, a second-degree felony charge of Indecency with a Child involves sexual contact with a minor under the age of 17. Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the legal necessity to protect the victim’s identity, police have declined to release specific details regarding the 2008 encounter.
Community and Church Reaction
Hernandez is a well-known figure in the local religious community. Along with his wife, he founded True Grace Church in 2014. The church has operated out of several locations over the last decade, including Grand Prairie, before settling at its current location in Arlington.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the congregation, particularly because the church operates an active "Kid's Ministry." The news has sparked a polarized reaction online:
-
Concerned Parents: Many have taken to social media to express fear and demand transparency regarding the safety of children within the ministry.
-
Church Supporters: Conversely, some congregants have defended Hernandez, describing him as a "good man" and a dedicated spiritual leader.
Ongoing Investigation
Police emphasize that the investigation is still in progress. While the current charge relates to a past incident, the department is continuing to review all available information.
