Stolen Mercedes Recovered in Northeast Dallas; Arrest Leads to Mail Theft Charges and Federal Assistance

Loi Lien

DALLAS, Texas -

A stolen luxury SUV was recovered in Northeast Dallas last week, leading to multiple felony charges and providing key evidence for a federal investigation.

On January 29, 2026, officers with the Northeast Crime Response Team responded to a FLOCK license plate reader alert on a stolen Mercedes GLE that had been reported stolen from DFW Airport. Using the real-time alert, officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Audelia Road and Walnut Street.

When officers approached the SUV, they found the suspect, 35-year-old Loi Lien, asleep inside the vehicle. Lien was taken into custody without incident.

During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers located property belonging to Lien. A subsequent search of that property uncovered evidence connected to additional criminal activity involving mail theft. Investigators say the evidence was significant enough to directly assist the U.S. Postal Inspectors with an ongoing federal investigation.

“The attention to detail shown by these officers went beyond a single arrest,” a law enforcement official said. “Their work not only resulted in multiple felony charges, but also strengthened a federal case through outstanding cooperation and professionalism.”

Lien was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

  • Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

  • Possession of Identifiers

  • Unlawful Use of a Criminal Instrument

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, under one gram

  • Outstanding theft warrant from Collin County

Lien's bond has been set at $21,000, but is being held in custody after the Collins County Sheriff's Office requested a hold for their open warrant.
