CORSICANA, Texas - A 51-year-old man called 911 Thursday night to report he had fatally shot his parents inside their home before taking his own life as officers arrived, authorities said.
Telecommunicators with the Corsicana Police Department received the call at approximately 9:11 p.m. Feb. 5 from a residence in the 3200 block of West Park Row. The caller, an adult male, told dispatchers he had shot both of his parents and remained at the location. He also stated he intended to kill himself.
During the call, the man said he had been using narcotics and alcohol and reiterated his intent to end his life. A telecommunicator remained on the line, attempting to keep him engaged until officers could arrive.
When the first officer reached the residence, the caller disconnected and subsequently shot himself, police said. The suspect and both parents, who were in their late 70s and early 80s, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation remains active. Authorities said additional information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate.
Police Chief Robert J. Johnson expressed condolences to those affected, acknowledging the profound loss experienced by the families involved.
