IRVING, Texas - Irving police arrested a 30-year-old woman after she allegedly assaulted an officer and attempted to flee during a call involving a possible mental health crisis on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

At approximately 8:59 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home in the 2400 block of Anderson St. near N. Story Rd. in North Irving regarding a suspicious circumstance. A resident reported that her roommate was possibly under the influence of narcotics and attempting to set the home on fire.

Responding officers, who were in fully marked uniforms and patrol vehicles, made contact with the roommate, identified as Janet Isidra Lopez, inside the residence and immediately detained her in handcuffs.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lopez slipped her left hand out of one of the handcuffs and struck 37-year-old Officer Laurel West Fisher in the head with her right hand. The handcuff still attached to Lopez’s wrist reportedly hit the officer on the left side of her face, causing scratches below her eye and nose.  The officer was treated on-scene.

Lopez then exited the residence and attempted to flee on foot toward the roadway. Officers quickly caught up to her and brought her to the ground, where she continued to actively resist while being taken into custody.

Officers on scene believed Lopez was experiencing a mental health episode and posed a danger to herself and others. A request was made for a magistrate’s order for a mental health evaluation.

Lopez has been charged with Assault of a Peace Officer, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Evading Arrest on Foot and Resisting Arrest. She remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail with bond set at $4,500.

Records show Lopez was previously sentenced to three years of deferred probation on May 29, 2025, in an agreed plea with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office for Assault of a Police Officer stemming from a 2023 case.

Officer Fisher joined the Irving Police Department after graduating from the Irving Police Academy in October 2025. She previously served with the Del Rio Police Department and the Val Verde County Sheriff’s Office in South Texas.
