ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy late Friday night, February 20, 2026.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Sausalito Drive, near West Arkansas Lane and Little Road. When officers arrived, they located a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite emergency life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to preliminary investigators, the victim and several other juveniles were inside a residence when they gained access to a firearm. Evidence indicates the group was handling the weapon and pointing it at one another when it discharged, striking the victim.
The juvenile believed to have fired the weapon was taken into custody and charged with manslaughter. He was transported to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center. According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office the victim was 14-year-old Riley Allen Jordan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jordan family during this difficult time.
Detectives continue working to determine how the firearm was accessed and whether additional charges may be filed. The investigation remains ongoing.
