DALLAS — A burglary suspect was taken into custody after falling through the roof of an Oak Cliff business while officers responded to a burglary in progress call Tuesday afternoon.
On February 24, 2026, Dallas Police officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of W. Illinois Avenue following reports of a business burglary in progress.
According to the preliminary investigation, 41-year-old Gabriel Ybarra allegedly gained entry to the business by cutting through the roof and stole approximately $12,000 worth of property.
When officers arrived, they observed Ybarra on top of the building. As officers moved closer, Ybarra fell through the roof and into the business.
Officers then entered the building and took Ybarra into custody without further incident.
Ybarra was transported to the Dallas County Jail and charged with Burglary of a Building – Forced Entry, a state jail felony.
Investigators also connected Ybarra to a separate burglary at the same business that occurred on January 31, 2026. He faces an additional Burglary of a Building – Forced Entry charge related to that case.
The investigation is documented under case numbers 026695-2026 and 018762-2026.
