Irving Man Arrested After Dangerous Stolen Truck Pursuit Through South Irving Streets

Christopher Arlin Wells

IRVING, Texas — An Irving man was arrested after leading police on a vehicle pursuit in a stolen pickup before attempting to flee on foot, according to the Irving Police Department.

In the morning of March 6, 2026, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Elaine Drive in South Irving near Otis Brown Elementary School after a resident reported that her gray 2020 Toyota Tundra had been stolen from her driveway overnight.

The vehicle was entered into a Flock camera alert system, and an Irving officer quickly located the truck and attempted a traffic stop. Instead of stopping, the driver fled and began weaving in and out of traffic, prompting a pursuit through South Irving going west toward Loop 12.

Police said the stolen vehicle eventually suffered a blown front right tire and came to a stop near the west service road of Loop 12 and the north service road of State Highway 183.

The driver exited the disabled truck and ran. Officer Lewis (# 1370) pursued the suspect on foot and took him into custody about 50 yards from the vehicle after the suspect surrendered.

The driver was identified as 35 year old Christopher Arlin Wells of Irving. According to police, Wells admitted after being read his Miranda rights that he recognized a police vehicle behind him and intentionally drove recklessly in an attempt to evade officers.

Wells was booked into the Irving Jail and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Evading Arrest on Foot. He was later transferred to the Dallas County Jail, where he remains in custody without bond.

Court records show that Wells has a prior criminal history that includes arrests for vehicle theft, burglary of vehicles, burglary of a habitation, theft and evading arrest. He is also a convicted felon as records show he was sentenced in June 2020 to six years in prison for burglary of a habitation and two years for vehicle theft, with the sentences ordered to run concurrently.  Unfortunately, he decided to go back to his criminal ways after being let out early. This is the reason he is being held without bond.
