Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Triple Murder at Arlington Apartment Complex

Defendant: Larry Reed

TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — A 31 year old man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to capital murder in a triple homicide that occurred in Arlington.

Larry Dewayne Reed entered the guilty plea in a Tarrant County courtroom in connection with the January 25, 2024 shooting at the Chatham Green Village Apartments in the 3200 block of Chatham Green Lane.

According to investigators, Reed went to the apartment complex where he shot and killed three people. The victims were identified as 29 year old Shannen Jones, 29 year old Monique Smith and 31 year old Dreyon Glenn.

After the shooting, Reed fled the area. Arlington detectives later received a tip from a citizen identifying him as the suspect.

Investigators said evidence at the scene indicated possible drug activity at the apartment.

Once Reed was identified, a manhunt was launched. He was eventually located and arrested in Greenville, Mississippi by the U.S. Marshals Task Force and later extradited to Tarrant County on February 14, 2024.  He has been in custody since then.

Prosecutors said Reed had previously served time in prison for the 2012 murder of 18 year old Obeth Hernandez, who was killed during a house party in Arlington. Court records show Reed had been released from prison on December 11, 2023, about one month before the triple homicide.

The case was prosecuted by Tarrant County Assistant District Attorneys Tim Rodgers and Lucas Allan. District Attorney investigator Timothy Pinckney also assisted in the case.
