Granbury Man Killed after Threatening Police and Pointing Shotgun at Woman

GRANBURY, Texas — A Granbury man who allegedly made threats against law enforcement on social media was shot and killed Friday evening after deputies say he pointed a shotgun toward a woman in a nearby park.

According to the Granbury Police Department, the incident began on the morning of March 13, 2026, when the department received a direct message through its Facebook page threatening violence toward law enforcement officers. The message came from the Facebook account of Don Marlow, a 67-year-old Granbury resident.

Investigators said additional posts from Marlow’s account were discovered encouraging others to shoot law enforcement officers. Based on the threats, officers obtained a warrant for Terroristic Threat at approximately 10:00 a.m.

Granbury police and deputies from the Hood County Sheriff’s Office set up surveillance near Marlow’s residence on East Bridge Street, including positions at the south end of the street and in a park located across from the home.

Negotiators and a family member attempted to contact Marlow for several hours but were initially unsuccessful. Authorities later made contact with him through social media messaging and attempted to convince him to come outside and surrender.

At approximately 6:27 p.m., Marlow was observed walking in and out of his residence on a balcony while brandishing a long-barreled shotgun and waving it around, according to police. Deputies also observed what appeared to be a pistol in a chest-mounted holster.

Authorities say that around 6:39 p.m., Marlow exited onto the balcony and raised the shotgun toward a woman walking in the park across the street.

At that point, two Hood County deputies fired their weapons, striking Marlow.

Once the scene was secured, emergency medical personnel who had been staged nearby responded. Marlow was transported to Lake Granbury Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Texas Rangers were immediately called in to investigate the officer-involved shooting.

Officials say the investigation remains active, and any further information will be released by the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Texas Rangers Division.
