Suspect Arrested After 120 MPH Chase In Stolen Car Across Dallas And Mesquite

Alfredo Hernandez

DALLAS, Texas - A man is in custody following a high-speed chase involving a stolen vehicle that spanned multiple cities and reached speeds of more than 120 miles per hour.

On March 16, 2026, around 11:15 a.m., Dallas Police officers assigned to the Project Safe Neighborhood Task Force located a vehicle connected to an armed carjacking reported the day before.

Officers called in additional units and AIR-1 to maintain visual contact before attempting a traffic stop in the 12300 block of Greenville Avenue.

As officers approached and ordered the driver to exit, the suspect fled, initiating a pursuit.

With the police helicopter overhead, the suspect drove the wrong way down Greenville Avenue before entering Interstate 635, where speeds approached 120 miles per hour.

Police said the driver exited at Jupiter Road and continued through residential neighborhoods at high speed. Because AIR-1 maintained visual contact, officers were able to follow at a safer distance.

The suspect later re-entered I-635 and drove through a construction zone at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour before exiting onto Town East Boulevard and entering Mesquite.

Authorities said the suspect drove into oncoming traffic before attempting to cross a median, where the vehicle became disabled.

Officers from Dallas Police, along with Mesquite Police and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, took the suspect into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as 46-year-old Alfredo Hernandez.

He faces multiple charges, including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond has been set at $110,000.

Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues. The case is documented under number 037178-2026.
