An Adult and Juvenile Killed After Car Crashes Into Stephenville Home, Teen Driver Arrested

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Two people were killed early Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed into a home in Stephenville.

Officers responded around 3:26 a.m. on March 22, 2026, to the 200 block of North Ollie Street near West Green Street after reports of a vehicle leaving the roadway and striking a residence.

When emergency crews arrived, they found multiple individuals injured. Victims were transported to Texas Health Resources Stephenville by Stephenville Fire Department and Erath County EMS.

Despite life-saving efforts, an adult female and a juvenile male were pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Gracie Lane Yates of Santa Anna, was taken into custody at the scene.

Yates has been charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide. Her bond has been set at $29,000.

Under Texas law, criminally negligent homicide involves causing death through a failure to recognize a substantial and unjustifiable risk. The charge is a state jail felony, punishable by 180 days to two years in a state jail facility and a fine of up to $10,000.

The Stephenville Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.

Authorities said the department was assisted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens, and the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.
