MANSFIELD/KENNEDALE, Texas — Two high-end stolen vehicles valued at more than $250,000 were recovered in North Texas as part of an auto theft investigation, authorities said.
The case began after a dealership in Utah purchased a white Audi RSQ8 from a dealership in California. The vehicle was picked up by a transport company but never arrived at its destination.
Officials said the California dealership had placed an additional tracking device on the Audi. When the vehicle failed to arrive in Utah, the dealership tracked it to the Mansfield and Kennedale area.
Investigators with the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force responded to the location, obtained a search warrant, and recovered the stolen Audi RSQ8, valued at approximately $165,000.
During the search, investigators also located a stolen BMW X6 xDrive40i valued at about $90,000. Authorities said the BMW had been reported stolen out of Florida.
Both vehicles were believed to be in the process of being prepared for shipment to Africa.
The investigation remains ongoing.
