Man Charged With Assaulting Officer at Irving Burger King

Clyde Vincent

IRVING, Texas — A man is facing a felony charge after allegedly assaulting an Irving police officer during a disturbance at a fast-food restaurant, according to police.

The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. on April 10, 2026, when an officer responded to a criminal trespass call at the Burger King in downtown Irving.

Upon arrival, the officer located a man matching the suspect description seated in the rear patio area. The restaurant’s general manager told police the individual was a frequent problem at the location, causing disturbances and stealing drinks. She said he had been told multiple times to leave and not return.

The officer made contact with the suspect and informed him he was being criminally trespassed from the property. As the man began to leave, police said the situation escalated when the officer attempted to detain him.

Authorities said the suspect tried to flee, pushed past the officer, and struck him in the side of the head with a closed fist, causing the officer’s glasses to fall off and resulting in a visible injury.

The suspect was then tased and taken into custody.

Police identified him as 45-year-old Clyde Vincent. He was booked into the Irving Jail and charged with assault of a peace officer, a second-degree felony, and cited for criminal attempt – criminal trespass.

Officers also discovered Vincent had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the Dallas Police Department.

Court records show that Vincent has a prior arrest in October 2022 for evading arrest and resisting arrest, during which he attempted to take an officer’s weapon. That case remains pending in Dallas County.

The officer involved, Bernhard Placek, has been with the Irving Police Department since October 2025.
