GARLAND, Texas — A man is in custody after a late-night shooting at a residence left a woman dead, according to the Garland Police Department.
Officers responded around 11:45 p.m. April 25, 2026, to a report of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon in the 800 block of Rosewood Hills Drive, near Bradfield Park.
When officers arrived, they found a woman inside a bedroom unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Detectives determined the woman had been at the residence with 26-year-old Herman Resendiz-Velez, who lives at the home. Investigators said an altercation occurred, during which Resendiz-Velez shot the victim.
Resendiz-Velez was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Garland Detention Center, and no bond has been set.
The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation remains ongoing.
