Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Violent Sexual Assault in Mansfield

Adrian Coleman

FORT WORTH, Texas — A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison following a conviction for aggravated sexual assault stemming from a 2024 attack in Mansfield.

Adrian Eugene Coleman was found guilty May 1 in the 371st District Court and formally sentenced May 4.

Prosecutors said the assault occurred September 13, 2024, when Coleman attacked a woman he knew. During the incident, he assaulted, strangled and sexually assaulted the victim. Authorities said a baby was present in the room during the rape.  During the attack, he told the victim, "I'm going to prison after this."  He was right about that.

Court records show Coleman had a prior conviction in Dallas County in February 2023, where he received two years of probation on drug charges. He had also previously served 60 days in county jail for assault of a family member.

The case was prosecuted by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, with Assistant District Attorneys Taylor Ross and Matt Rivers handling the trial. Investigator Dara DeWall and Victim Advocate Laura Medina also assisted in the case.

Officials credited the Mansfield Police Department for its work on the investigation.
