IRVING, Texas — The Irving ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Dorian Galindo as the lone finalist for superintendent following a special called board meeting.
Galindo currently serves as the district’s chief of staff. Board members said the decision came after an internal search process focused on maintaining leadership continuity and supporting ongoing progress across the district.
“Our Board believes that the Irving Independent School District is heading in the right direction,” Board President AD Jenkins said. “Our Board wants a leader who can continue our path toward becoming the premier district for educational excellence, fostering the full potential of students and empowering educators. We believe we have a team of administrators who can achieve excellence. The best person at this time to lead our extraordinary team of administrators, teachers, and support staff to empower our students today to excel tomorrow is Dr. Galindo.”
Under Texas law, the board must now observe a 21-day waiting period before officially appointing a superintendent.
The selection comes after current superintendent Magda A. Hernández announced in March that she plans to retire in December 2026, concluding a long career in public education.
District officials said Irving ISD will continue focusing on student success and supporting staff and the community as it moves through the leadership transition.
