DENTON, TX — A 25-year-old man was sentenced Friday to 40 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation for the kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old girl. Jordan Hagen was sentenced in Denton County on May 8, 2026, after a jury found him guilty of a litany of child sex and human trafficking crimes.
The sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that began with a dramatic multi-agency rescue operation in August 2024.
The 2024 Rescue
The investigation was launched on August 22, 2024, when the Frisco Police Department notified Denton authorities of a missing 15-year-old girl. The victim had managed to contact her family, stating she was being held against her will by a man she met online.
By providing details of her surroundings, the victim enabled officers from the Denton Police Department, Frisco Police Department, and University of North Texas (UNT) Police Department to pinpoint her location. Officers raided Hagen's apartment in the 1700 block of West Oak Street, where they rescued the girl and took Hagen into custody without incident.
Conviction and Fines
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Hagen met the victim in an online chat room called Chatib and communicated via the Session messaging app before picking her up in Frisco and transporting her to his Denton apartment.
The jury convicted Hagen on the following felony counts:
-
Two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child
-
Trafficking of Persons
-
Indecency with a Child
-
Online Solicitation of a Minor
-
Possession or Promotion of Lewd Visual Material
In a symbolic move, the jury assessed a $4,000 fine for each charge—the exact amount Hagen had attempted to "sell" the victim for to a stranger online during the period he held her captive.
A Community Effort
Following the sentencing, the Denton Police Department issued a statement expressing gratitude for the coordinated effort that led to the conviction.
“The Denton Police Department is thankful for the bravery of the victim, her family, and other victims who courageously testified. We would also like to thank everyone who helped rescue the victim, apprehend Hagen, and make this conviction possible.”
Hagen will serve his 40-year term in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
