Security Guard Killed, Woman Injured in Fort Worth Shooting

FORT WORTH, Texas — A security guard was killed and a woman injured in an early morning shooting Sunday, according to the Fort Worth Police Department.

Officers responded around 5:45 a.m. May 10 to the 4500 block of Miller Avenue after reports of a shooting. Police and the Fort Worth Fire Department arrived to provide medical aid.

Preliminary information indicates the security guard, who was working after hours, went across the street to a nearby business and began speaking with another individual. Investigators said a confrontation occurred, and the suspect shot the guard, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect also shot a second adult female, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect or suspects fled the scene.

Homicide detectives responded and are leading the investigation. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the identity of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death.
