RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Richland Hills Police Department arrested a Dallas woman Saturday afternoon after receiving reports of an armed driver weaving through traffic on State Highway 121.

Police said officers responded around 1:34 p.m. May 23 after a passerby reported a black female driver traveling southbound on Highway 121 at a high rate of speed while allegedly waving a handgun.

Investigators said the vehicle was seen weaving through traffic in Richland Hills.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 3000 block of State Highway 121.

According to authorities, the driver refused commands to exit the vehicle, prompting additional officers from the Haltom City Police Department and Richland Hills Police Department to respond and assist.

Police said officers were eventually able to safely remove the driver from the vehicle and take her into custody without injuries to anyone involved.

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Destiny Tubbs of Dallas.

Authorities said Tubbs also had multiple outstanding warrants from other North Texas jurisdictions.

She was transported to the North Richland Hills Joint Detention Center before later being transferred to the Tarrant County Detention Center.

Tubbs was arraigned on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

Police credited the citizen who reported the incident, saying the quick notification may have helped prevent injuries to the suspect or others on the roadway.
