DALLAS, Texas - Dallas police are investigating a fatal shooting in East Dallas after a juvenile shot a man who was choking and punching a woman during a domestic disturbance.
Officers responded at approximately 9:11 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, to a shooting call in the 3500 block of N. Buckner Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation determined that 33-year-old Adrian Ortiz was shot by a juvenile after Ortiz began choking and punching a woman.
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene, but Ortiz died from his injuries.
Police said the individuals involved in the incident knew one another.
Grand Jury to Review Case
The Dallas Police Department said the case will be presented to a Dallas County grand jury for review, a common procedure in cases involving potential claims of self-defense or defense of another person.
No additional details about the juvenile or the relationship between those involved have been released.
