DUNCANVILLE, Texas - A 58-year-old man has been arrested nearly three weeks after a road rage confrontation on Interstate 20 allegedly ended with a woman being shot in the face, according to the Duncanville Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Reo Bowman Jr., 58, who was taken into custody Aug. 18 following an investigation that included the use of automated license plate reader cameras.
Bowman has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, both second-degree felony offenses.
The shooting occurred at approximately 7:55 p.m. on July 28 in the 600 block of East Interstate 20.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting with injuries learned that two people traveling in a vehicle had become involved in a road rage incident with the driver of a Kia sedan.
Police said the suspect allegedly fired one round at the victims' vehicle before fleeing westbound on I-20.
Driver Shot in Face During Road Rage Incident
There were two people inside the victims' vehicle when the shot was fired.
The driver was struck in the face by gunfire, while the passenger escaped injury. The wounded woman was transported to Central Methodist Hospital for treatment.
Despite being shot in the face, police said her injuries were not life-threatening. She was later released from the hospital.
Duncanville detectives launched an investigation that included interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence and reviewing information obtained through Flock automated license plate recognition cameras.
Investigators followed multiple leads before identifying Bowman as the alleged shooter, according to police.
SWAT Team Assists With Arrest
At approximately 8:37 a.m. on Aug. 18, Duncanville detectives and members of the department's SWAT team executed a search warrant as part of the investigation.
Bowman was taken into custody without incident.
Police did not disclose what investigators believe triggered the original road rage confrontation or provide additional details about the evidence they say linked Bowman to the shooting.
The Duncanville Police Department credited its patrol officers, detectives and SWAT personnel for their work on the case while warning about the dangers posed by violent confrontations on area roadways.
"Road rage incidents and other acts of violence on our roadways place innocent motorists and members of our community at significant risk," the department said.
