On Friday, September 16, at 5:15 am, the Irving Fire Department received a structure fire call from an apartment at 601 E. Sixth St. in South Irving.
16 total pieces of equipment responded to the fire. Engine 1 immediately began a search, located and pulled an individual out of the smoke-filled living room. Signs indicated smoke inhalation and the patient was immediately transported to the Hospital. The patient recovered and was released a few days later.
According to the IFD, the fast and decisive actions by the Engine 1 and Medic 1 crews, the patient is alive today.
Engine 1 crew is comprised of Captain Eric M. Smith, driver Garrett T. Graves and Fire fighter Mack Smart. Medic 1 is comprised of driver Massey and driver Mitchell.
