Grand Prairie FD Responds to Travel Trailer Fire Just South of Irving Border

At approximately 8:44 p.m (Nov. 29)., the Grand Prairie Fire Department (GPFD) responded to multiple calls of visible black smoke and fire coming from the 3500 block of Gilbert Rd near the Irving border at Rock Island Road.

On arrival, firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a small travel trailer and a second trailer behind it that was catching on fire.

Crews quickly started a primary search and were able to locate one male victim in the second trailer that was involved in fire.

Firefighters rescued the victim by pulling him out through a window located in the back of the trailer. The victim was transported to the hospital.

One other victim was treated and released on scene.

The fire is under investigation.
