At approximately 5:50 a.m. this morning Irving Police received a report of a possible body in the roadway in the right lane of eastbound S.H.183 between Valley View Lane and the Esters Rd. exit (at the S.H.161 exit ramp). The responding officer found a deceased individual who had been struck by a vehicle. There were no indications that the vehicle had slowed or stopped at the scene but rather that it had continued to travel east on 183. Because next of kin have yet to be notified, investigators who have determined the victim’s identity state only that he is a 23-year-old Hispanic male.
Initial indications are that the victim was attempting to cross the highway from north to south and was struck by a single vehicle while in the center or right lane of eastbound traffic. Investigators have gathered parts believed to have come from the suspect’s vehicle, indications are that there is probable damage to the front end and possibly the hood and right side of the vehicle.
Investigators are seeking information and details from persons driving that portion of S.H.183 to assist them in their investigation of this tragic accident. The victim was wearing a black shirt and jeans. Anyone with information is asked to call the 24-hour-number (972) 273-1010.
