On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Plano Police detectives secured an arrest warrant for 19-year-old Zemarion Derwin Winters of Denison, Texas, in connection with a homicide case. Winters was subsequently apprehended and is now facing charges of murder, along with an unrelated burglary offense. He is presently confined at the Collin County Detention Center, with his bail set at $1,000,000.
The investigation dates back to August 7, 2023, when Plano Police Officers responded to an incident involving a deceased individual in the 3300 block of Northbound Central Expressway. The victim, an adult male, was later transported to the Collin County Medical Examiner's Office. Following a thorough examination, officials ruled the cause of death as a homicide.
As the investigation progressed, personnel from the Crimes Against Persons Unit and the Plano Crime Analysis Unit discovered evidence linking the victim to a separate crime scene located in Dallas, Texas. Subsequent follow-up inquiries led to the identification of a suspect, ultimately leading to the arrest of Zemarion Derwin Winters.
