Deadly Crash at SH-121 and I-635 Split Under Investigation by Grapevine Police

A fatal collision occurred earlier this evening at the intersection of SH-121 and I-635 split, leading to an ongoing investigation by the Grapevine Police Department. The incident has resulted in the closure of the northbound lanes of SH-121, prompting traffic diversions onto eastbound I-635.

According to preliminary reports, the driver of a sedan was traveling in an eastbound direction at approximately 6:45 p.m. when the vehicle collided with the crash barrier. The impact caused the sedan to catch fire, prompting immediate intervention by nearby bystanders. Courageous individuals managed to extract the driver from the burning car.

Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched to the scene. Paramedics initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the injured driver before transporting him to a local medical facility. Tragically, the driver's condition deteriorated, and approximately an hour after the incident, he was pronounced deceased. Authorities have confirmed that the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

In order to notify the next of kin, the identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending confirmation by the medical examiner. The Grapevine Police Department has urged the public to exercise caution and avoid the area, as the closure of SH-121 North is expected to persist for several hours as investigators work to gather information and clear the scene.

Numerous witnesses at the scene of the crash promptly dialed 9-1-1 and offered aid to the injured driver. The Grapevine Police Department expressed their gratitude for the compassionate and prompt response of these individuals. Additionally, they extended their appreciation to the Grapevine Fire Department for their unwavering efforts to save the driver's life.
