A high-speed pursuit concluded when the driver of a performance-style Ford F150 pickup truck took their own life while in motion. The incident started around 12:09 am in the 4500 block of Main Street, Grand Prairie.
Upon observing the truck engaging in dangerous "donut-style" burnouts within traffic lanes, a Grand Prairie Police Officer attempted a traffic stop. The driver, however, refused to yield, prompting a pursuit that crossed multiple jurisdictions.
Assistance was enlisted from neighboring law enforcement agencies, who successfully employed "stop-sticks" to deflate the truck's tires. Despite the decreased speed, the driver committed suicide with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The pursuit came to an end on eastbound Interstate 20 at Polk Avenue within Dallas city limits.
The identity of the driver will be disclosed by the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office after notifying next of kin.
