The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently investigating an accident that took place on Thursday afternoon (Aug 24) along Highway 287 in Alvord (Wise County).
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 4:51 pm, prompting a response from Alvord Fire Department, Wise County EMS, Wise County Sheriff’s Office, and DPS Troopers. The accident occurred on the northbound lanes of Highway 287, close to County Road 2798.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the driver of a pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and collide with a tree. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He has been identified as a 56-year-old man from Bowie.
The crash remains under investigation.
