On Friday, September 1, 2023, a 40-year-old man entered the White Settlement police station lobby and proceeded to the public restroom. While in the restroom for an extended period, an observant employee grew concerned about his well-being. Subsequently, officers conducted a welfare check on the man.
Upon entering the restroom, officers discovered the man in possession of a glass pipe and indications of illicit drug use, specifically methamphetamine. The man cooperated with law enforcement and was taken into custody without any further incident. At 10:06 a.m., he was formally booked into jail.
As part of the arrest, the drug paraphernalia in the man's possession was confiscated.
"To our knowledge, this is the first time anyone has ever walked into the police station to engage in illicit drug use.", said WSPD in a statement.
