Robert Aaron Morairity Jr., a 45-year-old resident of Decatur, has been formally indicted for capital murder in connection with the death of his 11-year-old daughter, Rachel Morairity. The indictment was handed down by a Wise County grand jury, citing the capital charge due to the young age of the victim.

According to the indictment, Morairity is accused of causing the death of his daughter "on or about the 15th day of February" of this year through the means of "smothering and/or asphyxiating." Additionally, a second paragraph in the indictment alleges that Morairity was "in the course of committing or attempting to commit the offense of obstruction" against his daughter.

Furthermore, Morairity faces an additional charge of murder in connection with the death of his 41-year-old wife, Kimberly Kellum. Investigators believe that Kellum was killed around November 1 of the previous year. The bodies of Kellum and their daughter were discovered in and around a garage at their residence located at 1356 County Road 4371 in Decatur in June.

In addition to the capital murder and murder charges, Morairity has been indicted on two counts of second-degree felony charges for tampering/fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse.
