In the early hours of September 4, 2023, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a Colleyville Police night shift officer conducting a routine business check made a startling discovery at a local store. The officer noticed a vehicle parked in the store's parking lot, well outside of regular business hours, with two individuals inside who appeared to be asleep. What caught the officer's attention was an AR-style long gun lying across the back seat in plain view.
Upon observing the illegal items in the vehicle, law enforcement officers decided to carry out a probable cause search. This search led to the seizure of several illicit items, including marijuana, drug paraphernalia, an AR-Pistol, an extended magazine containing 25-9mm bullets, a drum magazine with 12-9mm bullets, and 12-9mm bullets stored in a plastic bag.
The owner of the vehicle was taken into custody and arrested on charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. In addition, the individual was issued a citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Charges related to the Possession of a Controlled Substance are currently pending, awaiting the results of laboratory testing.
