The Waco Police Department has launched a manhunt for the suspect in a homicide investigation that unfolded in the early hours of Thursday, September 7, 2023. At approximately 4:04 a.m., Waco PD officers responded to a distress call reporting a shooting near the 2000 Block of Colcord.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered the lifeless body of a 41-year-old male. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the city's ninth homicide investigation of the year. The identity of the victim has been withheld at this time and will be disclosed to the public at a later date once next of kin has been properly notified.
While details surrounding the incident remain limited, Waco PD is actively working to piece together the events leading up to the fatal shooting. Authorities have indicated that there is currently no immediate threat to the public, but caution is advised as they work to apprehend the suspect.
