National Night Out Scheduled for October 3 in Irving

National Night Out is an annual worldwide event that brings together citizens, law enforcement agencies, local officials and local businesses to increase anti-crime awareness and strengthen community partnerships. Residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights and gather with their neighbors to show unity against criminal activity.

Along with the traditional “lights on” and front porch vigils, cities and towns across America celebrate NNO with a variety of events and activities such as:

  • Block parties
  • Cookouts
  • Flashlight walks
  • Parades
  • Safety demonstrations
  • Visits from local police

Irving Police say there's still time to register your neighborhood for National Night Out.

The Irving Police and Irving Fire Department, along with other various departments, can visit your registered parties on October 3rd between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. This is an excellent opportunity to visit with neighbors, meet new people, and strengthen community relationships.
