Hit-and-Run Incident Leaves Individual in Critical Condition on WB I635 in Coppell

At approximately 6:40 AM today, the Coppell Police and Fire Departments swiftly responded to a distress call at the intersection of westbound highway I635 and Beltline Rd in Coppell, Texas. The incident involved an  accident and a subsequent hit-and-run that left one person critically injured.

According to authorities, the initial collision occurred when the driver of an 18-wheeler reported a silver Toyota Camry crossing multiple lanes of traffic. The Camry's sudden maneuver resulted in a collision with the large truck, causing both vehicles to come to a halt on the right side of I635.

After the collision, the driver of the Toyota Camry exited their vehicle and attempted to run across the westbound lanes of traffic. An unidentified vehicle then struck the driver while they were in transit. The striking vehicle did not stop and continued on its way.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is presently in critical but stable condition, as confirmed by Coppell Police Public Information Officer Kelly Luther.

Coppell Police Department is asking anyone that may have witnessed this incident or anything leading up to this, to contact 972-304-3625.

Correction: It was erroneously reported earlier that the individual struck in the hit-and-run had been killed. However, this information has been rectified, and the victim is currently in critical but stable condition.
