The Colony Police Criminal Investigations Division arrested 27-year-old Taylor Leiva, a resident of The Colony, TX, in connection to an animal cruelty complaint. The incident, which occurred at an animal boarding facility on Wampler Drive, led to the arrest on Thursday morning at approximately 9:17 am.

Leiva, who operated the business under the name "Leiva Boarding and Training," faced allegations of mistreatment and neglect of animals under her care.

A concerned citizen posted on the Nextdoor app of instances of poor treatment and alleged deaths of dogs at the facility. The City's Animal Services had previously reported the business, leading to heightened scrutiny. The website for the facility has been taken down.

Authorities executed a criminal warrant for Leiva's arrest, charging her with Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, a third-degree felony in Texas. Leiva was promptly arraigned, with the bond set at $3,500.

The investigation remains active and open, with the City of The Colony examining various aspects of the case across multiple departments.

Crimes such as this will have serious consequences when travelling abroad.  Sites like National Pardon can help resolve some of those issues.
